" Rich approaches each job, whether big or small, with a methodical approach and strict attention to detail. He really listens to his clients so each repair becomes a custom experience whether a simple set up, complicated fret job, or restoration."

As a collector of guitars and electronics for some forty years, my only gripe with Rich is that I didn’t meet him sooner. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of guitars and electronics. He works fast, diagnoses the problem and is reasonably priced. I’m thrilled to have someone like Rich whom I’m completely comfortable getting under the hood of my most prized guitars and electronics.

I’m a guitarist, music teacher and record producer who moved back to Westchester from the city about two years ago. Because of these gigs, I have to maintain good playability and intonation on anywhere between 12 and 20 instruments at any given time.
I had a really difficult time finding an instrument tech in Westchester as I found all the local places are charging a lot of money to do setups to “factory spec.” Factory spec setups are a fine catch all for most people to figure out if they like an instrument or not when trying it out at a shop but they are often not the best option for the player or a given circumstance. Higher action then a factory setup is sometimes preferred for recording or slide guitar while lower action is needed for technical playing. As a result, I was carting all of these instruments to the city for a proper setup with a tech who was able to get my instruments playing the way I needed them.
After about a year in Westchester, a friend introduced me to Rich Grimaldi. He told me Rich had a background in amp building and was working on getting a shop up and running. I initially reached out to see if he would be willing to service a vintage Mesa Boogie tube amp which the other techs in the area had not been willing to work on. Not only was Rich wiling and able to service the amp but he was also able to repair a guitar which had been giving me issues for a few years. Rich was also able to get the guitar to play amazingly well. He took the time to find the right action and overall setup for my needs above and beyond the way I was accustom to working with techs in the city.
Since getting to know Rich, he has worked on dozens of instruments and amplifiers for me and the school that I work for. Every single time I bring him something it comes back playing fantastically. He is honest and upfront about costs and turn around time and seems to be able to work on anything I throw at him. If you are serious about the upkeep and playability of your instruments, I highly recommend bringing your equipment to Rich for maintenance and repairs.
